Tuesday January 20, 2020. Plaintiff: Peter Grobe Defendant: High Point Insurance Company The plaintiff Peter Grobe (36), a resident of St Catherine's Ontario and a previous client of the defendant High Point Insurance Company had purchased a homeowners insurance policy on July 22, 2018. Mr. Grobe's home is located in St Catherine's, Ontario at 4589 Dorothy Street. Mr. Grobe was insured with High Point Insurance from April 21, 2018, to December 5, 2019. On August 21, 2019, St. Catherine's experienced a major windstorm damaging many homes including Mr. Grobe's. Mr. Grobe filed a claim with High Point Insurance on September 6, 2019, claiming the windstorm caused over $45,000 in damage.

The damage reported by Mr. Grobe included broken shingles, awning, siding and drywall to Mr. Grobe's home. After a comprehensive claims examination High Point Insurance denied the claim, stating that much of the damage was not caused by the windstorm, and that they could not examine the claim. High Point Insurance stated the reason for denial was because Mr. Grobe would not allow them in the house on several occasions to inspect the damaged dry wall reported as part of the claim. Attempts by High Point Insurance were made on September 15, 19, 26 and Oct 1, 2019, where they were denied entry by Mr. Grobe. In addition, High Point Insurance interviewed many neighbors who stated that Mr. Grobe had spoken to them stating that the claim would be a great opportunity to get a new roof. Mr. Grobe has taken action to sue High Point Insurance for the amount of $5,000,000 to compensate him for the total damages he suffered.
