Two cities, New York and Chicago are experiencing a tremendous upsurge in criminal activity ever since the “defund the police” campaign started. There is competition between the two cities to decrease the violence. The local paper recently reported that the mean number of criminal activities in New York is 52 per day with a standard deviation of 6 for a sample of 40 precincts polled. The same article reported the mean number of criminal activities in Chicago is 85 per day with a standard deviation of 10 for a sample of 35 precincts polled in Chicago.
