Two tanks are connected by 505 ft of 6-in pipe. The tanks contain an oil with = 12 cP and SG = 0.85. The level in the first tank is 215ft above the level in the second one. However, the pressure in the second tank is 11psi greater than the pressure in the first one. There is no pump in the system, so oil flow depends only on the system conditions to overcome friction. Please, answer the following questions: a) How much oil is flowing through the pipe, in lbm/s? b) Which way is it flowing? Note: Do not forget to try laminar flow as a first option.
