The driveway of a shopping plaza exits onto a major street at a stop-controlled intersection. The arrival rate on the major street is 1500 veh/h and the arrival rate on the driveway is 180 veh/h.

Determine the distribution of the durations of gaps in the major street traffic to the nearest half-second from 0 to 12 and produce a plot. (Use of a spreadsheet is recommended.)

Assuming a critical headway of 4 seconds and a follow-up time of 6 seconds, estimate the capacity of the roadway, considering the probabilities of gaps large enough to serve 1 vehicle, 2 vehicles, etc.
