- The 7 C's Instructional Planner is a tool for lesson planning that incorporates UDL and research-based strategies. Within the template, you will find many links for helpful resources. At the top of the template, there are links to the following:
- Video explaining how to complete the lesson plan template.
- Student sample
- Rubric for scoring a quality lesson plan
- Be sure to address the UDL barriers to learning and the solutions (UDL strategies) to these barriers that are unique to your focus student.
- There should be a barrier and a corresponding solution addressed foreach UDL principle.
- Both the barriers and the solutions should be explained in detail.
- What is the barrier AND why is it a barrier?
- What is the solution and How will this particular solution remediate the identified barrier?
- Review the UDL Lesson Plan Rubric located on the 7 C's Instructional Planner to ensure you cover each component of the lesson plan effectively.
I found areas where Jesse, the focus student, could benefit from improvement after giving him the self-determination self-assessment. The evaluation emphasized problems with self-control and self-regulation abilities. Jesse has particular difficulties with time management, task organization, and emotional control under pressure. These areas are critical to his growth as a person and his academic achievement, so the lesson plan must focus on them.
"Self-management and regulation" has been selected as the skill for our self-determination lesson based on the results of the self-assessment. The purpose of this lesson is to give Jesse the tools he needs to better manage his time, organize his tasks, and control his emotions. By honing these abilities, Jesse will be better equipped to manage his schoolwork and deal with day-to-day difficulties.
