Daniel is desperate to travel after months in lockdown due to the pandemic. He has always dreamed of making a pilgrimage on foot. He decides to take a particular route from Edinburgh to York, walking all the way without using other forms of transport. Because he is an insomniac, he books en-suite single rooms either at a B&B or at a Youth Hostel where available. At one of his stops, near Alnick in England, the single room he books turns out not be available due to a booking error. He has to share the YH room with two other persons: Valerie and Vicky. He is not too happy but to his surprise, he sleeps well. His roommates are less happy as Daniel sleepwalks through the corridors and around the rest of the house. They tell Daniel who is surprised to discover that he is a sleepwalker. At another stop, Daniel again has his booking mixed up and ends up sharing the bedroom with one other person, Vincent. During the night, Daniel gets up and starts touching Vincent lightly before touching him more insistently, moving to Vincent's intimate parts. Vincent wakes up horrified. Daniel is unaware of Vincent's reaction and continues. Vincent recovers from his initial shock and starts pushing Daniel away. Daniel stops but seems in a daze. After sitting down on the floor for a few minutes, he asks what has happened and why he is here on the floor. He claims he does not remember anything. Vincent does not believe him and reports the incident to the police who prosecute Daniel.
