Under the law, religious organizations are afforded certain exemptions from some laws based on their religious doctrine. For example, even though we have discrimination laws that forbid discrimination on the basis of gender, the Roman Catholic Church is not required to ordain women as priests because that is contrary to their views. Hobby Lobby extends that kind of thing to the personal viewpoints of the owners of a private for-profit business.

1. In your view, is it sound public policy to permit the owners of qualifying private for-profit businesses to be exempt from certain provisions of the Affordable Care Act by virtue of their personal religious beliefs?
2. Do these two rulings -- a corporation can possess a political point of view (Citizen's United)and sincerely held religious beliefs (Hobby Lobby) -- conflict with the traditional view of a corporation which is reflected in the cliche: "the business of business is business?"
