Many companies brand their products according to gender-for example, men's shaving razors are generally advertised in "masculine" ways, with a deep-voiced male narrator espouseng the sheer power of the blade to cut through the toughest hair, while a woman's razor brand is likely to use pastels or pink colors and emphasize comfort (for the record, any sharp blade will cut any human hair, and functionally, the actual blades in both men's and women's razors are identical; women's razors just cost more). Furthermore, many products that aren't explicitly related to gender are still presented in a gendered way-for example, power tool commercials are generally going to feature men, while cooking implement commercials are generally going to focus on women. As a consumer, what is your general reaction to these highly gendered advertisements?
