Unlike many disciplines (e.g. mathematics, psychology, etc.) management is considered an "applied" discipline. This implies that knowledge developed by management researchers will be applied to real problems with the intent of improving management practice. In spite of this assumption much of management theory and research is never applied to real world situations. This week's reading highlights four areas of management research that has impacted real world organizations. Select one of the four areas highlighted and illustrate how you think it has impacted health care management practice. Provide an example if you have actually observed a real application of one of these ideas.
