Use a 3D CAD application to model a cube that is 3 x 3 x 3 inches and save it as a STEP file. Open the STEP file with a text editor such as Notepad and edit the size of the cube to make it 4 x 4 x 4 inches (i.e. look for the numbers 3 and change them to 4). Open the modified STEP file in the CAD application. Was the 3D model of the cube updated successfully? Why were you able to edit a 3D model with a text editor? What are the advantages and disadvantages of this type of representation?
