Use a graphics or drawing program to model the ER diagram for the database described below. No handwritten submissions please. You may find it useful to sketch a little first, but you must draw the model with your drawing program for grading. No color should be used in the diagram. Black and white only please. Lines should not criss cross. There are no arrows in this diagram. Be sure that your lines can be printed, not just seen on a screen. Only the formal shapes from the book will be accepted. I recommend an 11 x 17 canvas. Your drawing is incomplete if assumptions are not included.
Pet Shelter Database. A kind person has started a pet shelter, hoping to rescue lost and wandering pets and find them a new forever home. So far, he has helped dogs, cats, hamsters, birds and a few snakes and lizards. He has been in business since 2020. He has a location that can hold the pets and he has socialized his pet shelter to the public. Potential pet owners can sign up online to give their information and adopt a pet. He collects some information about their preferences. For example, they want a dog but not a cat or they are interested in reptile adoption. Maybe they prefer a pet that is small, not large. The shelter owner visits a pet owner before giving them an animal to be certain that they have a safe environment for the animals, and he keeps track of the visit and the approval so that he knows what hes done if a long time passes between a home visit and suitable pet arriving for adoption. The animals at his shelter get an initial examination from a vet and also some follow up medical services if they are hurt or wounded or sick or need routine care of some sort. When a person wants to adopt a pet, they can see a list of medical services the pet has received with the prices that were paid for those services and the vet that performed them.
