Use Excel to simulate a sample of measurements of a single Quad Flat Pack (QFP) package width using a Vernier caliper. Let's assume that the true width (though we don't know it) of the package being measured is 15.0003mm. However, the true measurement error (your contribution plus the caliper's contribution is 0.00005mm). To simulate this, assume that the sample measurements are normally distributed and, as such, you are to simulate a Normal (=15.0003mm, s = 0.00005mm) distribution for an "n" of your choosing as long as n>16. For the Random Seed, use any 4 digit number of your choosing. Based on your simulated measurements, if the parts have this specification: 15.0000mm +/- 0.0005mm, then calculate the P/T and state whether or not the measuring system is capable. If it is not capable, then what must the measurement error (sE) be reduced to in order to be capable?
