Case 1 Kevin v Spacey
Kevin offered to purchase Spaceys house and said Spacey had 6 weeks to give a definite answer (yes or no). Spacey, on the basis of Kevins offer, bought an apartment in the city. Before the 6 weeks expired, but after Spacey had bought the city apartment, Kevin withdrew his offer. Without selling her home first to Kevin, Spacey cannot afford to purchase the city apartment.
Can Spacey sue Kevin for breach of contract?
Case 2 Lee v Clare
Lee sent out an email message to all his clients which read: We are selling all of our stock from our closing down bargain basement store. Please send us your best offer and we shall sell to the highest bidder. Clare submitted the highest offer but Lee refused to sell the goods to her.
Can Clare now sue Lee for breach of contract?
Case 3 Sam v Stella
Stella decided that it was time to sell her car. However, she was not certain of its value and so, when she advertised the car, she did not state the price. When Sam responded to the advertisement, he asked for the price. Stella responded by saying, Oh, Im not sure. I guess a fair price would be around a couple of thousand dollars. When Sam arrived the following day with $2000 for the car, Stella told him that she really meant $3000
