Use the following information for the below Questions.

Chappuis et al (2007) conducted a case-control study investigating the use of bed nets (exposure) and nighttime venomous snakebites (outcome) in Southeastern Nepal. (Those not using bed nets are considered to be unexposed.) They found that:

10 snakebite victims had used bed nets and 46 snakebite victims had not used bed nets.

Of the unbitten controls 51 had used bed nets and 5 had not used bed nets.

1. What is the null hypothesis for this study?

2. Set up a 2 X 2 table for this study for the association of bed net use and nighttime snakebite (assume that bed net use is the exposure [Yes] and that having no bed net means a person is unexposed [No]).

3. Calculate the correct summary measure (either Odds Ratios, Incidence Rate Ratios, Count, or Proportion) and tell me clearly which summary measure you selected [show your work.]

4. Interpret the resulting summary measure that you calculated above.
