Use the information and strategies from week 12 (Persuasive Writing) to craft a persuasive scholarship application. You are encouraged to write the letter with details and experiences from your own life but can add/make up details if you prefer. The goal here is to write something that is persuasive and effective. You should try to demonstrate two key things: 1) Why you are qualified and deserving of the award 2) How the scholarship would have a positive impact on you a. Demonstrate that this would be money well spent if you were given the scholarship In many ways, this is similar to a cover letter or grant application. You want to demonstrate that you fit the requirements and are a strong candidate. While there are no formal requirements (as with a business letter) you should use full sentences and your response should be organized into paragraphs. You are not expected to use any outside sources; however, if you do use any sources for your assignment, you must include appropriate references in APA format. Length: Max 300 words. Since most scholarship applications have strict word count limits, you CANNOT exceed the word limit for this assignment. This means you have to be brief, so plan and outline before writing. Formatting: Times New Roman, 12pt font. Double spaced Tone: You should use a professional tone; however this one can be more personal than the previous assignments. Consider what will be most effective in convincing your reader that you are a good choice for the scholarship. Scenario: Found on page 2. Write a response to the scholarship prompt. It is short and does not include many details (as is typical of scholarship applications). Your goal is to focus it in a way that best suits your goals of writing persuasively. Scenario: Business School Scholarship Prompt Awarded to students who demonstrate business leadership skills. This can include social entrepreneurship, charity organisations, or more traditional business roles. The student should have a strong history of academic success or experience in a business field.
