A study in 2005 was conducted to determine whether there was a difference in the depression of women and men who were participating in Alcoholics Anonymous program as well as whether the presence of their spouses at the meetings had a relationship on their depression score.
One-hundred-ninety-six men and women participated in the study, and their depression scores after 30 days and 180 days were captured using a depression inventory on which lower scores represented lesser depression. The score range on the instrument is 3 to 24.
The data are contained in the file "Case Study 1 - AA Spouse Depression.csv." You will perform a set of analyses on the data with the file, and then interpret the results to indicate your findings. The column Spouse Presentindicates whether the participant was enrolled in an AA program that encouraged spouses to attend or did not allow others except the participant to attend meetings (called closed meetings). In addition, the age and urban or rural residence of the participant is shown. All participants are married whether their spouse attended or not.

4a) Determine the descriptive statistics for urban men and rural men on the variable mean depression score at 30 days. Evaluate the descriptive statistics, and discuss whether the IQR would yield betterinformation or not to describe the data.
4b) Regardless of your response to (4a), calculate the IQR for urban men.
5) For a layperson, calculate and explain the meaning of the standard deviation for rural men at 180 days.
6) Refer back to the descriptive statistics for women on the variable depression scores at 30 days (you generated these to answer Question 2). Using a source of your choosing, characterize the meaning of the skewness and kurtosis as provided in the output. (For example, is it large, what does it mean?)
7) Conduct a t-test between the two groups males and femaleson the variable Depression Score-180. Interpret your findings about whether or not there was a difference between men and women in terms of depression after 180 days.
8) Conduct a paired t-test for men using their 30-day and 180-day depression scores. Was there a significant difference in the depression of men between these two times?
