How memo should look:
41?'5 |I|I - MEMO TO: Steve McDavid FROM: Student DATE: January 6, 2011 RE: Employment Discrimination in the MS Code 1. I searched the Index of the MS Code for the topic of Discrimination. From there, I searched through all of the subtopics to find statutes related to employment and labor discrimination. 2. After turning to the subtopic of employment and labor under discrimination, I found three statutes. a. First, Miss. Code. Ann. 71-7-9 deals with drug and alcohol testing of employees. A case relying on the law in this statute is Walker v. Mississippi State Bd. of Medical Licensure, N.D.Miss., 2000. b. Second, Miss. Code Ann. 71-11-3 deals with illegal alien employment discrimination. The case relying on the law in this statute is Adams v. Colonial & United States Mortg. Co., 82 Miss. 263 (1903). c. Third, Miss. Code Ann. 43-11-13 covers public welfare institutions. A case relying on the law in this statute is Suddith v. University of Southern Mississippi, 977 So. 2d 1158 (Miss. Ct. App. 2007). 3. After researching the books, I performed a query in Westlaw, searching MS State and Federal Cases. The query used in terms and connectors was: employ! /p discriminat! & age /p terminat! fire. The following three cases were found: a. Mississippi Employment Sec. Com'n v. Johnson, 9 So. 3d 1170 (Miss. Ct. App. 2009)Step by Step Solution
