Using the IRS website or DOL website: You provide bookkeeping services to a landscaping/lawn mowing business. He currently has 10 employees that work 40 hours a week. During the spring they hire additional workers to help with the demand for their services. The owner has hired 4 new people and plans to utilize them for 3 months. He wants to pay them a day rate of $150 per day as contract labor. A typical day is 10 hours long. They work Monday- Saturday during the spring season. The employees (regular and these 4 seasonal) will be given their assigned locations each morning. If they do not have an assigned location, they do not work for the day and will report back the next morning. The owner asked you how the 4 seasonal employees should be set up on payroll. Reply on a separate word document to the owner (you can make up a name) as to the proper way to handle this situation. Include references/links to support your stance. This too should be professional in nature (letter or memo style).
