Using the PhET Electric Field Hockey applet below, you and your partner(s) are tasked with placing charged particles in the field in order to direct a moving charge into a goal. There are three levels of increasing difficulty that you will need to maneuver in order to score a goal. In order to receive credit for the activity, you need to show me each of your goals as you progress through the levels in order. Scoring all three goals is worth full credit (10/10 points) for the activity. Scoring the first two goals is worth 7/10 points, and scoring only a goal in the first level is worth 4/10 points. I would recommend having the radio bullet checked in order to view the resulting superposition of electric fields from the particles you've laid down, a.k.a. the "Field." You may also find it helpful to "Trace" the particle's path. To add extra incentive and make the activity more exciting, the first team to show me all three successful goals will receive 3 points extra credit for the activity (13/10 points). The second team to successfully demonstrate all three goals in order will receive 2 points extra credit for the assignment (12/10 points). And the third place team will receive 1 extra credit point on the activity (11/10 points).
