Project Charter: PMP Exam Prep Course 12/01/2022 Project Charter: PMP Exam Prep Course 12/01/2022 Opportunity Columbia Basin College (CBC) students have requested that the Project Management (PM) division adds a Constraints, Assumptions, Risks and Dependencies 4-day prep course (boot camp) for those wanting to obtain their Project Management Professional (PMP) Constraints 10 hours per week of CBC staff time (resource), 11-month project duration (schedule), certification. Student surveys confirm there is sufficient interest from students who would be willing to pay . $800 for such a course, making it feasible from a cost perspective. Since the CBC PM Program is already $75,000 budget limit (cost), The prep class has to be offered 4 times per year (2 online and 2 classroom) PMI GAC certified, the course (and PROJ 100) will combine to satisfy the 35 contact hours required before Assumptions 1. . Enrollment will meet or exceed 20 students for each prep class, sitting for the PMP exam. A 4-day prep class is adequate to deliver the needed content, The Project Team has the required subject matter expertise, Project Goals . . Students can apply scholarship funds to this prep class, Create a 4-Day PMP Prep Course based on the 6th edition of the PMBOK, appropriately addressing all Students are willing to pay $800 for the prep class 10 Knowledge Areas, all 5 Process Groups, and all 49 Processes. Risks Secure funding / Budget cuts, Assign a Faculty Sponsor and train 3 current CBC PM Professors to deliver the course. Poor class enrollment, Technical issues with Canvas, . Provide the course on the CBC campus, capitalizing on all of the classroom facilities. Scope creep, Provide the course online, utilizing CBC's Canvas Learning Management System. Underestimated task durations, Provide a quality Prep course with at least a 25% higher first-time pass rate than the national average. Poor economic conditions limit student enrollment Complete the design and implementation within 11 months for a cost not to exceed $75,000. Dependencies . Project team availability, Sponsor continued support, Project Scope Maintaining PMI GAC certification, A new online course added to CBC's PM Program that is offered twice a year. Maintaining currency with respect to PMP Exam Content A new classroom course added to CBC's PM Program that is offered twice a year. The course is only offered to current CBC students who have completed PROJ 100. New course materials including textbooks, presentations, videos, exams, and assignments. A train-the-trainer program, so CBC's assigned PM faculty can deliver the course effectively. . . A marketing strategy to entice students to take this course, when preparing for their PMP Exam.
