Using the project comparison method, prepare an estimate for a two-story home in your local area. The home is to have three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, kitchen and dining facilities, and a two-car garage. The square footage should be between 1,800 and 2,200 square feet. Exclude the lot, all site work, and all permits from your estimate. To prepare this estimate, you will need to find two or three projects to use as a comparison. These may be obtained via the Internet or talking to local builders. Be sure to adjust the prices as necessary to make the projects truly comparable, including adjustment for age and quality of materials.
