The use of language is influenced by a number of social factors: the participants in the conversation and their roles, the setting in which the conversation develops, and the purpose for the conversation. Communication messages are also exchanged through nonverbal cues such as tone of voice, body language, gestures, environment, the way we dress, the things we own, and the way we deal with time and space.
