You will be watching 14 videos this semester, and 9 of your video write-ups will follow this format. As you watch the videos about historical events use the lens of economics and pull-out significant historical and economic events. Be able to explain why/how these historical and economic events are significant/important.

Video Description: "Benjamin Franklin and Franklin's Philadelphia take center stage in this program. As the merchant class grows in the North, the economies of southern colonies are built on the shoulders of the slave trade. Professor Miller brings the American story to 1763 with the Peace of Paris and English dominance in America.

Purpose and overview of the video write-ups:

There are a variety of teaching methods used in this course including lectures, chapter readings, video write-ups, atlas assignments, individual assignments, peer reviews, and presentations. This way you are able to explore the material in different forms and through varying perspectives, which is a great way to learn the content for the long term as opposed to memorizing information for a test. The assigned videos are created by experts in the field. They provide a different perspectives and approaches to what we are learning in the course as compared to the textbook. Use what you have learned from the video, the text, the atlas, personal experiences and the notes from as you do your video write-up. Your write-ups will deepen your understanding of the material and help develop your skills as a communicator. As much as you can apply how this content applies to life outside of this course as you explain why your topics are significant historically and economically.

As you watch the video be thinking about what you want to write-up that is historically significant, economically significant, and then something that was a wow factor (this could be that was interesting or really surprised you).
