In the video Tribal Justice, we have two tribes in California who have implemented tribal courts and are taking jurisdiction over civil and even some lower level criminal issues (drug offenses) from the state. Reflect on the successes and failures you see in these instances. Can you speculate as to why think various examples succeeded or failed? What is you sense of the different approaches tribes may be taking to offenders from those taken by the dominant culture justice systems?
