Vienna buys a box of Newport cigarettes at the Circle K. Before she can exit the store with her purchase an armed man enters the store. The man is named David. David points a loaded gun at Vienna and orders her to lie on the ground with her arms outstretched. She complies. David then points the gun at Clark the cashier, and orders him to empty all the cash from the register into a bag. He also orders him to fill another bag with boxes of Newport cigarettes. As he grabs the filled bags from Clark, David shoves him backward. David then snatches the box of cigarettes from Vienna's hand and flees the store. When he was shoved back, Clark hit his head on a shelf, suffering a fractured skull and brain bleed. He dies days later from his injury. David is eventually captured and faces multiple criminal charges.
