The organization that was selected was the Joint Commission. The Joint Commission may have a major impact on the improvements that may be made to provide high-quality healthcare to most individuals. Interestingly, the Joint Commission is a non-profit organization, and it may be responsible for accrediting and certifying most of the healthcare organizations and programs available to most individuals. Findings have suggested that this may be because it may help healthcare providers by educating them on how to improve healthcare quality and provide safe and accurate care to their patients (Johnson and Walston, 2021). The Joint Commission's mission statement may align well with the Triple Aim mainly because both of these may look at ways to make healthcare accessible and cost-efficient and ensure all healthcare organizations can provide the best quality healthcare to their patients. They also make standards that healthcare organizations may have to follow in order to maintain patient safety and quality of care. The Joint Commission may also provide standard goals that may be followed and obeyed by most healthcare organizations and staff. Findings have suggested that the Joint Commissions' set goals can be classified as identifying patients correctly, effective communication skills between the patient and the healthcare provider, improving medication safety, identifying patient safety risks, and many more (Johnson and Walston, 2021). The Joint Commission may focus its services on facilities such as hospitals, home care, nursing care centers, behavioral health care, ambulatory care, hospice care, and laboratory services. Since the Joint Commission works with many different healthcare organizations and programs, they may focus their services on all types of healthcare organizations and programs. The Joint Commission may work with many stakeholders, including clinical professionals, healthcare organizations, and many more. Findings have provided that the Joint Commission may track its metrics by identifying measures that may aid in providing the best quality care and how it may impact patient outcomes (The Joint Commission, 2023). These improvements may be achievable by improving medical research, proximity, accuracy, and knowing the risks and what measures should be taken to avoid those risks. For example, the Joint Committees' accreditation may influence or is required when examining how healthcare organizations reimburse Medicare and Medicaid. The Joint Committee may also visit healthcare organizations accordingly to inspect if that specific healthcare organization is following the Joint Commissions' standards when delivering healthcare to its patients.
Improving the quality within the healthcare system may impact the other components of the Triple Aim. Findings have shown that the three goals of Triple Aim can be identified as improving the individual experience of care, improving the quality of healthcare, and reducing the per capita cost of care (Mery et al., 2017). The Triple Aim goals can be seen to be universal and can be or must be followed by all healthcare organizations. Research has shown that the Triple Aim may also impact the performance of the healthcare organization and standardize the measurements that could prove these measurements (Kokko, 2022). These measurements can be observed by observing the improvements in the delivery of healthcare and patient satisfaction rates.
