Visit Global Edge Web site. This Web site, maintained by Michigan State University, is one of the best resources for international business. Click on "Country Insights" and select one of the approximately 200 countries listed. Do not select a country highly similar to the U.S.- so Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the U.K.(England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales) are off limits! I also recommend focusing on industrially developed countries rather than vacation destinations such as Jamaica, Bahamas, and the Cayman Islands, because more information will be available and you may be tempted to focus on tourists (Americans on vacation). Finally, do not select a market closed to the U.S. such as Cuba and North Korea. Please reference this sanctions list. If a country is listed, it cannot be used for this assessment.
Before beginning your research, post your country selection on the M16 Discussion: Global Adaptation Country Selection discussion board and obtain the instructor's approval. Confirm that no one else has already claimed your desired country. This will ensure everyone researches a different country. If you research a country that has already been claimed by another student in this class, you will not receive credit for this assignment.
Read the Country Insights for your country and click on the "Quick Links" for additional information. In particular, you will find the "Country Commercial Guide" insightful. The Culture Crossing site also contains excellent information regarding culture and business etiquette.
