2. Visit Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/(Links to an external site.)) and go to their Grocery and Gourmet Foods section. Search for all of the ingredients you need for your recipe and record the prices and the quantities. (For some ingredients, you may need to try other websites, but Amazon has a surprising number of grocery items.)
3. Calculate the cost of producing your recipe. You may need to refer to http://www.convert-me.com/en/convert/cooking(Links to an external site.) and/or other search engines to aid in your conversions. (For example, if your recipe calls for 1 tbsp of olive oil, but it is sold in 12 oz. jars, you need 0.4746 ounces, or 0.03955 jars.)
4. How much do you think a restaurant could sell one serving of this meal for? How much profit could a restaurant make on this food item? (Keep in mind that most recipes probably make multiple servings.)
5. Are the costs that you calculated in part c the total costs of production? Are any costs missing?
