W1 Discussion Question 2: How Do We Explain Health Recovery?

Purpose: discussion post, you are asked to reflect and report on your own experience with illness and recovery of health. By investigating how we explain and discuss these aspects of experiences we all share, we can gain insight into how psychological factors can play into illness onset and/or recovery. This insight, in turn, has been shown to positively influence our continued health.

Post: Consider recent illness experienced by you or a close family member who you may have had the opportunity to assist or care for during their time of illness. Discuss with classmates the details of that experience, as you are willing to share these. Address onset and presumed cause, disease course, and the interventions utilized and their effectiveness to resolve this condition. Specifically, share what you understand about the role psychological factors may have played in influencing illness onset or recovery.
