Warehouse robotics and automation have already been adopted in some warehouses already and I believe we are a few years away from mass adoption. Warehouse robots enhance operational efficiency by streamlining picking, packing, sorting, and other material handling activities which increases productivity and reduces human error. Deploying warehouse robots also diminishes the need for highly skilled human labor as automated systems can simplify tasks. Two notable examples of this efficiency are Kiva Systems and Goods-to-Person. Automation enables warehouses to continuously operate without the need for rest breaks, increasing throughput and maximizing order fulfillment. Furthermore, warehouse automation drives better inventory management through real-time tracking of inventory positions and optimizing stock levels. However, there are some inhibitors to warehouse automation adoption. The primary inhibitor is significant capital investment requirements to purchase and setup the system. A secondary inhibitor would be the job displacement that would result from a mass automation implementation
