3. You are a police officer, and this is what happened to you:
   • • There were three juveniles 13 to 15 who had broken into an old chemical factory. You are working the night shift and come upon an open door and see bodies running away from you into a farm field. You chased because that is what you are trained to do. At that time, you saw these boys in the field hiding in the tall grass. Because you couldn't see them clearly, you assumed they are bad guys. Your dogs were coming, and your guns were out ready to fire if they started jumping on you. Fortunately, you convinced them to standup up and gave up. Then, you realize that these are just teenage boys, but they all committed felonies or burglaries because of what they did inside of the building.
     • You have many options as officers regarding what you can a police officers. Still, because you took this course before and learned about different types of sanctions, you can either refer them to either a "Beyond Scared Straight" program or a "Restorative Justice" circle. Because you are a well-educated officer with good credentials from CAL STATE LA, the judge who handles this case would respectively consider your reference.
