As you watch, analyze the interview. What strategies and behaviors is the interviewer using? What about the interviewee? What did you notice in relation to how each is managing the interview? Consider probes, paralanguage, signposts/transitions, bridging, stories, future focus, etc. You will be asked to share these, so jot down your observations and evaluations.

Develop a brief report of your analysis. Include the following information:

• Review your observation notes and determine how this information enhances your interviewing skills and/or understanding. What did you learn? How does this enhance your understanding of interviewing? Consider the interview from the interviewee's perspective. What did you learn about the way they managed this? Consider the interviewer's perspective. What did you learn from their management of the interview?
• Be sure to include specific examples from the interview. You will be graded on your critical analysis. So, go beyond the superficial "they used gestures". Be descriptive and explain how & why the information is useful. What techniques were used AND why/how did they impact the interview? What went well? What could be improved? How did each party achieve their purpose? What did you learn about interviewing?
