Watch the following video clip from the classic movie "It's a Wonderful Life" to get a little look at what happens when a bank begins to fail.
If you have never watched this whole movie I highly recommend it. It is usually on around Christmas but you should be able to find it to stream.
If you don't want to look at an old movie you can watch a clip or read some recent articles about Silicon Valley Bank. Yep, they had a bank run in March 2023!
Here's a good overview from the Wall Street Journal:

Do you think you would have been reassured by the speech made by George Bailey (a.k.a. Jimmy Stewart) about where the money was? Or would you have insisted on gettingall of your money backimmediately? If you were a Tech Firm in California would you have lined up outside the bank and tried to withdraw all of your money?
Things are much safer in the banks these days with FDIC, but what about those deposits over $250,000 that weren't covered? Do you have faith in the banking industry? In the past few weeks people have gone to their bank and withdrawn large amounts of cash as part of the general fear and anxiety over COVID-19. Have you seen this happening in your family?
Search the web for recent stories about the banking industry, financial sector and/or Wall Street. Where do you stand on the the controversy over whether there should be more or less regulation of the financial sector. One of the things that President Trump did soon after taking office was to roll bank some of the stricter banking regulations that were put in place after the 2008-2009 housing crisis. There were Federal Reverse Governors who stepped down in protest to the relaxation of banking regulations.
The recent banking scandal should make it easy for you to find and share the URL of an article on this topic. Then you can take a stand on whether you are in favor of more regulation of the financial sector or less regulation. Or talk about your overall faith in the US banking system and how that faith may be shaken by current events.
