Water (=103kg/m3,=0.001kg/m.s) flows through the below reducing elbow at a flow rate of 30kg/s. The inlet pressure (P1) is 4105Pa and the pressure drop through the elbow (P1P2) is 1.5104Pa. The crosssectional area at the inlet section (point 1 ) is 150cm2 and at the outlet section (point 2) is 25cm2. The elevation difference between the outlet and inlet points is 40cm. Determine a) the net force (in N ) to hold the reducing elbow in place and the direction of the force (show on a sketch and give the angle in degrees). b) the head loss, hL, between points 1 and 2 . (Patm=101,325Pa,g=9.81m/s2) (Don't round pressure values, use at least 3 significant figures in calculations.)
