We all know that health care is a much debated concept in this country. Employers are not paying for medical and/or dental like they commonly did in the past. These companies cite the rising cost of health care as a reason to reduce or eliminate any type of company provided coverage. Many countries provide universal health care for their citizens and it is paid for by the taxpayers. We also know that there are rules that apply to medical expense and not everything is deductible.

Required:

Is it ethical for companies to take away benefits or eliminate them altogether and cite the rising cost of health care as a basis for doing so? How were companies able to provide health care in the past, but seem unable or unwilling to provide health care for their employees now? Is it ethical for our government not to cover the medical expenses of its citizens? If the citizens are responsible for paying for their own health care, then at the least, shouldnt all medical expenses be deductible? Wouldnt this help our citizens to be healthier in the short-term and the long-term?
