We are exploring the possibilty of working with some new latex suppliers in Fairbanks and Skagway, Alaska. We would have to get the material from both of those suppliers in Alaska to either one, or both, of our facilities in New Hazelton or Chetwynd, Canada. We have collected the data shown in the graphic below from potential transportation providers. For each link we have the total transportation cost as well as the environmental impact score of the transportation provider on that link. The environmental impact scores range from 0, meaning no impact, up to 100, meaning it will have a large negative impact on the surrounding environment. The optimal solution may have shipments split along different paths. The entire shipment does not have to follow the same path. For example, it is acceptable if 75% of the shipments should leave Node 1 for Node 5 while 25% of the shipments leave Node 1 for Node 2. What is the financial cost of this route, the total environmental impact score, and the route itself? Task 5.2 Determine the route with the least environmental impact to connect the cities of cities of Skagway and Fairbanks to our facilities in New Hazelton or Chetwynd. What is the financial cost of this route, the total environmental impact score, and the route itself? Task 5.3 We are also looking for a solution that provides to us with a good trade-off between our two objectives of minizing both our cost and environmental impact. Provide us with another solution which minimizes the maximum percent deviation from both objectives. What is the percentage deviation for this solution from each of the previous optimal solutions? Also, what is the financial cost of this route, the total environmental impact score, and the route itself? Task 5.4 Please provide us with at least two more Pareto optimal solutions. One on either side of the Pareto optimal solution found in Task 5.3. Meaning one solution should have a cost between the cost result from Task 5.1 and Task 5.3, and another solution should have a cost between the cost result from 5.3 and 5.2. Task 5.5 Plot all five of your solutions from Task 5.1 - Task 5.4 on a single scatter plot. Have the financial cost on the x-axis and the environmental impact score y-axis. Also provide a summary data table for the data that you have in the scatter plot. Meaning the table should have the following two columns: Financial cost Environmental impact score We are exploring the possibilty of working with some new latex suppliers in Fairbanks and Skagway, Alaska.
