We are going to deal with “Storage Space Planning” considering the turnover rate of the products. Suppose the storage area for the warehouse is designed as shown in the following figure. A single input/output (I/O) point serves the storage area. All movement is in full pallet quantities. The storage area is subdivided into 10’×10’ storage bays. Three classes of products (A, B, and C) will be stored. Please classify the items given in the table below. Note that Items 1-10 require 10’×10’ storage bays and the remaining items require 5’×5’ storage bays. Finally, calculate the expected average distance traveled for the dedicated storage layout.
