We are having a basic oxygen furnace for which the composition for the hot metal is given as 1%,0.2%,0.20% and 3.5% for Silicon, Phosphorus,
Mn and Carbon respectively. The 15% of the hot metal will be considered for the weight of the scrap. The steel at tap will contains 0.2% of
Carbon. The composition of the slag has Calcium Oxide, Ferous oxide, Magnesium oxide, Manganese oxide as 54%,18%,2.5% and 2.5%
respectively. The Calcium Oxide to Silica ratio is 3.5. We have to determine the weight of the hot metal, weight of the slag produced, Quantity of the
lime required and calculate the quantity of oxygen required per tonne of steel. For the calculation, assume that the exit gas of the converter
contains 15%CO_(2) and 85%CO as average of the entire heat.
