We have argued that improvements in transportation were beneficial in several ways. Broadly speaking, we argued that both consumers and producers of goods gained from improvements in transportation. In addition, we argued that improvements in transportation could help reduce wealth inequality. Explain/discuss both of these arguments (the one about consumers and producers, as well as the one about the reduction in wealth inequality).
