We know that children's health is determined by multiple influences such as Biological, behavioral and environmental. Environment largely influences the quality of a child's wellbeing, and young children also learn a lot from their surrounding environment. Poverty, homelessness, food insecurity, inadequate medical and dental care, substance abuse, food safety, air, and water pollution, discrimination, and unsafe neighborhood are some environmental issues that influence the child's wellbeing. For example, children who grow in a poor family are more likely to drop out of college. so poverty is a risk factor for being less educative. Food insecurity and food safety have a great impact on children's physical and mental health. It can cause malnutrition, and the children might be stressed out from food insecurity which may affect the child's mental health.

On the other hand, some environmental factors promote healthy outcomes, such as following a nutritious diet, participating in daily exercise, getting proper rest, having access to medical and dental care, and reducing stress. All of these are positive influences on a child's wellbeing. According to the book Health, safety and Nutrition, "Well-nourished children are typically more alert, attentive, physically active, and better able to benefit from learning experiences" (Rose-Jacobs et al., 2008). "Poorly nourished children may be quiet and withdrawn, or hyperactive and disruptive during class activities"
