We learned about two U.S. subcultures of violence - gangs and the military. First, identify and define the four social control mechanisms that explains why people would or would not endeavor in antisocial behavior. Second, identify four cultural traits that we discussed during lecture that the gang and military subcultures share in common, making sure to discuss how each subculture uniquely practices each of the four cultural traits. Third, discuss in detail why the US's military is so venerated in our country while gangs are so despised, given that both of these subcultures of violence share so much in common.
