To assess your understanding of different influence tactics and their strengths and weaknesses in change situations.
Content of the Assignment:
Complete Toolkit Exercise 9.3 from the eText (adapted below) to examine how different influence tactics might be used, and the strengths and weakness of applying such tactics.
Think specifically of change situation you are familiar with. What influence tactics did people use? Describe a situation in which at least 3(three) different tactics were used.
Inspirational appeals
Consultation (seeking the participation of others)
Relying on the informal system (existing norms and relationships)
Personal appeals (appeals to friendship and loyalty)
Ingratiation
Rational persuasion (use of facts, data, logic)
