Week 4: Ethical Dilemma Working as a counsellor in an organisation you are presented with a 28 year old client who is accompanied by his father. The client's presenting concerns are social- related. He explains that he has not friends and finds it difficult to relate to others of his won age. He goes on to share being confused by people in general. After discussing his social experiences the client identifies creating a circle of friends as his main goal; and a second goal of finding a romantic partner. The client shares that he is more suited romantically to someone around 15 years old. He explains that he finds people that age more. attractive and he thinks they would have more in common than someone his own age. Differentiate between law and ethics with reference to the above ethical dilemma. Identify the ethical dilemma/s in the above case. Discuss the ethical decision-making steps you would use as you unpack this case to address the dilemma/s. Discuss the relevant guidelines for good practice as outlined by the HPCSA (Booklets: e.g. confidentiality etc) and apply them to the case.
