Week 5 - Case Study: Post Arrest/Pre Conviction A+ Read the following paragraph and respond to the discussion question. 29 replies, 29 unread : Alonzo King Jr was arrested for assault in 2009. A cheek sample for DNA was obtained. The profile did not match the assault case but did match an unsolved rape case from 2003. He was convicted of the rape and sentenced to prison. His attorney argued on appeal that this was an invasion of his privacy and the DNA results were inadmissible. The prosecutors argued that a cheek swab was no more invasive than a fingerprint. The Maryland Court of Appeals reversed the conviction and sent it back to a lower court. As a result, 16,000 DNA profiles collected postarrest but preconviction could not be used pending the final appeal. Would you object if you were arrested for a minor offense, such as a traffic violation and were ordered to provide a DNA sample? Answer the prompt and respond to at least two of your peers' posts. You must make an initial post before you are able to view the posts of your peers. To view the discussion board rubric, click the gear icon in the upper right corner and select "Show Rubric."
