As a freelance project manager with recruiting responsibilities, the manager's responsibility is to get the positions filled at the lowest salary possible. However, in this particular situation the manager helped coach the applicant while staying within the budget that the client had given him. He still succeeded while helping the applicant and with working below that budget which was in the best interest of the client. As an applicant, it is your responsibility to conduct research on industry salaries to ensure that you aren't lowballed iron the start of negotiations. The manager could have avoided this dilemma altogether. He could have given the applicant a salary proposal based on the average industry norm. However, during this proces: recruiters use lowballing tactics to see what they can accomplish first. In this case, there was
