Weighing the risks against the benefits of a research study to ensure that the benefits outweigh the risks." (McBride, D. M.,2019) The issue that I might have with the research is making sure that it is age-appropriate. Some horror movies may be too graphic, and disturbing, cause feelings such as anxiety, and distress, and have content that may not be age-appropriate for some teenagers, and they should not be watching. The researchers need to ensure that the age limit is suitable for the participants from the age of 14 to 17 as mentioned. Six hours for a horror movie may cause participants to be distressed. This can cause sleep problems, not wanting to participate in the study after a certain number of hours, minutes, or seconds. This can also cause withdrawal, fear, and other things that participants have never seen before, and it can be scary. It is also important that if participants feel as though there are concerns during the study, they are following ethical procedures to ensure that the student's safety, well-being, and rights are in place. Having support in place during the study so participants know where to go if they plan to withdraw from the study is important. Privacy and confidentiality to know their information is being protected. "Confidentiality: The researcher's responsibility to protect the participants' identity and right to privacy (including participant responses) during and after the research study" (McBride, D. M.,2019) Before this study is done assessing the participants to see their sensitivity towards horror movies.
