Eight months prior, and acting pursuant to Section 702 of the FISA Amendments Act, the U.S. National Security Agency intercepted a phone call between Briben and a Russian hacker by the name of Vladimir Computin. The intercept occurred as part of a special compartmentalized access program codenamed GLASNOT, in which the agency recorded the content of all calls to, from and within the former Soviet Union. The program also stored the metadata of all such calls, including location information pulled from on-device GPS and through cell tower triangulation.
