What are the key findings discussed? This study advises that a team's capability to obtain external knowledge and coordinate internal knowledge is a critical factor for answering the aforementioned question, and social media use at work facilitates the development of this ability. Our study finds that social media usage at work and a transactive memory system significantly influence the absorptive capacity of a team to classify and assimilate external knowledge and efficiently transform and utilize it through smooth coordination among team members. This study provides an important contribution to the growing body of literature investigating systematic ways to improve absorptive capacity in this technologically turbulent era. The association of relationships supported by the theoretical background contributes to a team-based design by examining the mediation effect of the two facets of absorptive capacity.
