what are your thoughts: My program will implement both linear periodization and nonlinear periodization. Our season is not until the spring so we get the whole fall season to prepare for the spring. I would use more of a linear approach during our off season with a more structured strength program. Our goal would try to get stronger and to develop strength. This also allows for them to learn the basic form and foundation needed for lifting. The structure program would be focused on more progressive overloading specific lifts like a deadlift or a squat. According to the OPEX article, the linear approach is great for beginners or someone who has not worked out in awhile. This is great for our program because we will have just came back from summer break so it is a great way to start incorporating strength training into their workouts while focusing on the correct form. It is also a great way for you to see the progress that has been made because you should be able to see the weight progressively increase over time.
