The watchdog example. I think that a wasteful government program that could be removed would be the Rural Electrification Administration now known as the Rural Utilities Administration. This administration was created to bring electricity to farms and is now said to provide water and waste treatment, electric power and telecommunications services to farms/rural areas. This was very much needed in the 1930's when the organization was created but now all of these farms have access to these resources. This would save tax payers around $8.2 billion a year. I do not think that farming would take a big hit from this considering these farms have access to water and electricity already. I think that the government could take this saved money and put it towards another agricultural section. I think that a great section to put money towards would be for beginning farmers and ranchers loans. The nation is having a shortage of workers in the agricultural section and there will always be a need for those workers. People are going to continue to need food so helping out farmers to get going will help decrease that shortage.
